Miami goes toe to toe with Louisville in uniform game, breaks out stormtrooper threads

First, the No. 18 Louisville Cardinals (1-0) on Wednesday touted their sleek, red-and-black threads for the prime-time matchup Saturday night against the No. 17 Miami Hurricanes: red helmets, red jerseys, black pants, black socks and black cleats.

Nice!

Then, the Canes (1-0) went strong on Thursday with their own uniform game, previewing the fan-favorite, “iced out,’’ Adidas all-white stormtrooper unis for Saturday.

“Why not dress up for the occasion?” CanesFootball/The U Equipment Room posted on Twitter.

UM posted on Twitter the sleek white look: white jersey, white pants, white socks and traditional white helmet with the green and orange U. The tweet illustration shows white cleats, but not sure about that one. 247Sports noted UM could surprise folks with “the cleat version of the orange Miami Hurricanes Adidas Ultraboost 1.0.’’

The Canes wore all-white unis made from “repurposed and upcycled materials” last year on Oct. 11 for the Virginia at Miami game at Hard Rock Stadium. UM won that game 17-9. They also wore all white in September 2019 at North Carolina, and lost 28-25.

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be telecast by ABC.

ESPN College GameDay will be there as well, so the party should start early.
