Young Thug and Chris Brown’s new “Slime & B” mixtape features a former Miami Hurricane

Chad Thomas is building quite the hip-hop resume.

The former Miami Hurricane produced and sung the hook on “Trap Back,” a track from Young Thug and Chris Brown’s joint mixtape “Slime & B” which released Tuesday.

Thomas, who raps under the name “Major Nine,” has previously produced songs for Rick Ross, Kodak Black and City Girls.

The Liberty City native is by no means an average musician. In addition to being able to read and write music, Thomas plays nine instruments (piano, organ, drums, guitar, bass guitar, trombone, clarytone, tuba and trumpet), according to Bleacher Report.

“It was just listening to music and then coming up in the church, watching the musicians,” Thomas told The Washington Post of his musical origins. “... I just said I wanted to do it. I didn’t want to play just one instrument though. I wanted to play all the instruments.”

His passion for music wasn’t always widely embraced. At least one UM staffer questioned Thomas’ drive. He later fielded similar inquiries during the predraft process.

“They’ll never understand somebody doing something and being great at two things that require a lot of mental ability, a lot of strenuous hours,” Thomas told Bleacher Report in 2018. “They’ll never understand that because it ain’t easy to them. But it’s easy to me.”

Thomas’ musical ability ultimately didn’t matter to the Cleveland Browns who picked the defensive end in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
