Miami Hurricanes baseball to hold fanfest, alumni game at Mark Light Field on Saturday

The University of Miami baseball season is almost here, and one way to get acquainted with what is expected to be one of the best teams in the nation is to hang out Saturday afternoon and evening at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Canes’ annual FanFest and Alumni Game festivities begin at 4 p.m. with a team autograph session , continues with alumni batting practice from 4:15 to 5 and concludes with the 6 p.m. alumni game.

The famous Mark Light shakes will be flowing.

UM, which finished 41-20 (18-12 Atlantic Coast Conference) in 2019, opens the 2020 season Feb. 14 with the first game of a three-game series against Rutgers. For the first time since 2007, Miami has been ranked among the preseason top-5 by multiple polls.

Alumni who will compete in Saturday’s game include pitchers Frankie Bartow, Steven Ewing, Danny Garcia, Danny Miranda, Darryl Roque and MIchael Rudman. Also representing the alumni will be catcher Garrett Kennedy, infielders Romy Gonzalez, Edgar Michelangeli and Johnny Ruiz and outfielders Carl Chester, Chantz Mack and Ricky Eusebio.

The event is free and open to the public.
