Miami Hurricanes linebacker Denzel Perryman named semifinalist for 2013 Butkus Award
Junior linebacker Denzel Perryman was named one of 12 semifinalists for the 2013 Butkus Award, the Butkus Foundation announced Monday. The award goes to the nation’s top linebacker.
Perryman, a Coral Gables native, is the only linebacker from the Atlantic Coast Conference on the list. He leads the Hurricanes with 52 tackles, including 33 solo stops.
Finalists for the Butkus will be announced Nov. 26 and winners will be announced by Dec. 10.
Johnson honored
Duke Johnson, who rushed for 168 yards and two TDs in Saturday’s win against Wake Forest, was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week — his second weekly award this season and seventh of his career.
