The good news keeps coming for the University of Miami athletic department.
Freshman Mykea Gray of the UM women’s basketball team was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Monday, following a weekend during which she scored 27 points in her collegiate debut against FIU and then 21 points on Sunday against Vermont.
UM coach Katie Meier described Gray as “pretty fantastic” after the FIU game.
Gray, a 5-4 guard from the Washington, D.C., area, is the first Hurricane to win a conference weekly honor since Adrienne Motley won Player of the Week on Jan. 12, 2015.
