Rain postpones UM vs. VT baseball; doubleheader Friday
The University of Miami baseball team’s series opener against Virginia Tech, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, was postponed until Friday at 3 p.m., when a doubleheader will be played at Mark Light Field.
The second game Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. — or 45 minutes after the first game ends.
This is the last week of the regular season for the Hurricanes (26-26, 13-13 Atlantic Coast Conference), who are battling against the odds to be selected by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee as an at-large pick for the NCAA tournament.
The Canes travel to Louisville next week for the ACC tournament. UM would get an automatic entry into the NCAA tourney should it win that tournament.
The Hokies (23-29, 9-18) are also battling. The top 12 ACC teams get into the league tournament and they’re on the bubble.
The final UM home game, also against Virginia Tech, is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
