Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball falls short against North Carolina Tar Heels
Allisha Gray scored 15 points as No. 17 North Carolina defeated the University of Miami women’s basketball team 66-65 Sunday afternoon at BankUnited Center.
Trailing 64-62, the Hurricanes (18-9, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) had a chance to tie or win it, but Necole Sterling was ruled out of bounds on the left wing after receiving a cross-court pass with 3.1 seconds left. Jamie Cherry converted two free throws with one second remaining to clinch the victory for the Tar Heels (22-6, 9-5). Jessica Thomas hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer for the final margin. Michelle Woods led UM with 18 points.
