Florida State’s Kermit Whitfield wants to rebound from sophomore slump
As perhaps the fastest player on the team, junior receiver Kermit Whitfield is an important piece of the offense.
But after a promising freshman season, Whitfield slipped off the radar as a sophomore.
He didn’t record a catch in seven of FSU’s last eight games, while FSU’s kick return unit, the nation’s best in 2013, tumbled to 88th in average return yardage a year ago.
So it’s encouraging for FSU that Whitfield has earned praise from coach Jimbo Fisher.
“Much, much, much better,” Fisher said. “I’ve been very pleasantly surprised.”
