Top-ranked Florida State will be without a pair of Marios when it visits North Carolina State on Saturday.
Coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. and running back Mario Pender will each miss the game after suffering concussions in last week’s win against Clemson.
Pender’s absence should mean increased snaps for freshman Dalvin Cook behind starter Karlos Williams. Cook, a former Miami Central standout, has impressed in limited action this season.
“We’ve got Cook ready to go,” Fisher said.

Linebacker Markus Eligwe is also listed as out on the team’s official injury report, but Fisher said he has looked good in practice and left open the possibility that he may play Saturday. Eligwe suffered a Lisfranc (foot) injury in spring camp and has yet to appear this season.
