Mets Provide Francisco Lindor Injury Update After Missing 50 Games
The New York Mets have been without star shortstop Francisco Lindor for more than half the 2026 season. Lindor last played on April 22 against the Minnesota Twins, when he left the game after five innings. The next day, Lindor was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.
Before going on the shelf, Lindor struggled in the 24 games that he played. He put up a slash line of .226/.314/.355 with an OPS of .669, totaling only two home runs, five RBIs and two stolen bases.
Since Lindor sustained the injury, the Mets have played average baseball, totaling a 25-25 record.
Lindor has been making steady progress on the recovery front in an attempt to help the Mets, who are 33-41, in their stretch before the All-Star break in mid-July.
On Thursday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza provided an encouraging update on the team's star shortstop, as he said he will begin a rehab assignment this week.

Lindor's injury has arguably been the biggest loss for New York in 2026, although other key pieces like Juan Soto and Francisco Alvarez have also missed time.
This is the 32-year-old's sixth season with the Mets, as he has played 782 games for the club. In that time, he has been a steady force in the lineup, batting .260 with a .796 OPS, 143 long balls, 450 RBIs and 119 stolen bases.

In addition to Mendoza saying that Lindor will be starting a rehab assignment, he also said that there is a chance Lindor is back with the big-league club sometime next week.
