Canada and Qatar face off today in their second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at BC Place in Vancouver.

As Group B remains wide open after the first match day, Canada has a solid chance to secure a win against Qatar and put itself in a favorable position to qualify for the next round.

While Jesse Marsch's squad drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar earned their first-ever World Cup point with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland.

In Canada's opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the co-hosts fell behind after Jovo Lukić headed home from close range following a corner. Some resilient Bosnia and Herzegovina defending then frustrated Canada for much of the match.

However, Cyle Larin rescued a point for the co-hosts when he scored from inside the box with his first touch after coming off the bench.

Notably, captain Alphonso Davies was absent in the match against Bosnia and is still a question mark for the match, although Marsch has stated that the Bayern Munich star is available for selection.

As for Qatar, Julen Lopetegui's team faced heavy pressure against Switzerland, but they held on to keep the game close despite giving up 10 shots on target.

It was a resilient performance from a team that most people expect to finish last in Group B.

Historically, this isn't the first time the two countries have met. Canada beat Qatar 2-0 the last time they played in a 2022 friendly.
