Is Alphonso Davies Playing Today for Canada vs Qatar?

Canada and Qatar face each other in a Group B match after securing draws in their respective opening games.

While the co-hosts were held to a 1-1 draw by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar earned a point against Switzerland, securing their first-ever World Cup point.

A win here for Canada would give them a real chance of going top of Group B and strengthen their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds.

As things stand, all four teams in the group have one point each, leaving the door open for any of them to progress.

A notable absence from Canada's match against Bosnia and Herzegovina was Alphonso Davies. The Bayern Munich star suffered an injury during the Champions League last month and has been limited in training ever since.

Will Alphonso Davies Play Against Qatar?

Davies, the youngest captain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has endured a difficult year with injuries restricting him to only 23 matches for Bayern Munich.

Ahead of the match against Qatar, head coach Jesse Marsch revealed that Davies will be available for selection after observing him in training.

"He's been in training this week, and he'll be available tomorrow, and we'll see how the match goes and then make a decision on how we would choose to use him," Marsch told the media.

"We've worked really well through this, and Alphonso is looking really good. It's just a matter of what kind of game it is, what kind of moment it is, and how we feel he can contribute, but he's ready, he'll be available," he further added.

Despite Marsch insisting that Alphonso Davies is fit to play, the Canada captain is still unlikely to feature against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Davies has not played for Canada since March 2025, when he suffered a torn ACL during the CONCACAF Nations League Finals.
