Carmelo Anthony Participates in Knicks Championship Parade: ‘We All Won'

After years of frustrating playoff exits without reaching the NBA finals or winning a ring, Carmelo Anthony is finally celebrating with a New York Knicks championship parade.

On Thursday, the event arrived in New York City with many fans on hand to cheer and congratulate their team and its latest players, including Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Josh Hart.

Anthony appeared at the event on a float with others to witness the historic parade in NYC, and shared his thoughts on getting to participate in such a spectacular event after never achieving a ring himself.

"I don't think we imagined this. I mean, we always foresaw a championship coming to New York, but to actually have it happen, and then the fans and the crowd, and now here at the parade. New York is, as they would say, lit right now," Melo said, per FanDuel SportsBook via NBA TV.

"There's a lot of players that came through this organization and this program that tried to do this and tried to accomplish this right here. So we all understand what it feels like and that weight to wear that basketball jersey and represent that," he said. "For now to be fans of the game and supporters of the game and New York to have a championship, I like to say we all won. The whole city won, every player who ever came through here."

Other players who came close to a championship in NYC but never won included Knicks legend Patrick Ewing and All-Stars, including Larry Johnson, Allan Houston, and Latrell Sprewell.

Anthony, who spent 19 seasons in the league, started with the Denver Nuggets as a rookie, but shifted to the Knicks for a seven-season stretch beginning with the 2010-11 season. He achieved 10 All-Star appearances, with a majority of them as a Knicks player, showing his immense popularity and basketball skills.

Anthony since moved on to a career as a broadcaster and analyst, among other endeavors. He worked alongside Maria Taylor, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady as part of the NBC and Peacock NBA Playoffs coverage crew for several playoff series.

During his time playing in New York, he only had three playoff appearances with the team, making this a much-deserved parade for him and all of the other former players, who had a part in trying to bring another championship to NYC.
