College Basketball Could Be Next Sport To Come To the White House
The UFC Freedom 250, held at the White House, was deemed a big success in Washington, D.C.
ESPN analyst Jay Williams, who attended the event, said that it was better than the NBA Finals.
"I was there, 4,000-seat arena. I gotta be honest, coming off the NBA Finals where I was at multiple NBA Finals (games), better event than the NBA Finals," Williams told Stephen A. Smith. "It was a better event than the NBA Finals. With the White House literally being right there, incredible."
That's quite a comment. But everyone who attended the Sunday night fights event came away impressed.
Could we get another sporting event held at the White House as a result?
It sounds like it's possible.
College basketball is being floated as the next sport to potentially host an event at the White House.
Dan Hurley floats college basketball game at White House
UConn's head coach Dan Hurley is 100 percent in on a college basketball game at the White House. He thinks that the game should involve two powerhouse programs: UConn and Duke.
"That would be good," Hurley said to TMZ Sports. "I think UConn should definitely be in it, UConn-Duke. … Yeah, it'd be pretty cool. I'm definitely down."
There have been outdoor college basketball games in the past, held on U.S. military ships. Playing college basketball games outdoors can be tricky - the weather has to be just perfect to avoid dangerous conditions on the court - but if you can make it happen, it's pretty awesome to watch.
Do you think college basketball should be the next sport to come to the White House?
