Dog Killed As New York Knicks Fan Celebrates 2026 Championship
Unfortunately, a dog was shot and killed after the New York Knicks won the NBA Finals on June 13.
It was reported by TMZ that an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department shot and killed a dog this past weekend. The police were responding to a call about a woman screaming at a Canoga Park condo building.
A neighbor was concerned about the woman's well-being. However, it turns out she was just celebrating the Knicks' first title since 1973. That being said, the woman's dog was killed moments after the authorities showed up to check on her.
"The officers met with the person reporting (PR) who directed the officers to the apartment unit. The officers contacted the resident in the apartment unit; while speaking with the resident, a large dog was by its side barking at the officers," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a press release.
"The officers asked her to secure the dog, and the resident closed her door momentarily. She re-opened the door, and the dog exited the apartment. Once outside of the apartment, the dog charged at one of the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS)."
Is there more to the story?
Marie Marseille, the woman at this Canoga Park condo, claims there wasn't any sign of aggression from her dog.
"Jameson wasn't baring teeth," she told FOX 11. "He wasn't growling. He wasn't aggressive. He wasn't barking. He was just moving towards the officer."
Marseille said she dressed her dog in a Knicks jersey prior to the shooting.
"We were just so happy. We were just so happy. We were just celebrating the Knicks. We were [expletive] celebrating the Knicks," the woman yelled, via ABC Eyewitness News.
Our thoughts are with the dog's owner at this time.
