Why The World's Best Trail Runners Are Flocking to Palisades Tahoe This Month
Fancy a sweat? The ski season at Palisades Tahoe, California, ended weeks ago, but that isn't stopping the resort from making use of its impressive vert.
Between June 18 and June 27, 2026, three trail running races are coming to Palisades Tahoe, each offering something a little different.
The first, the Broken Arrow Skyrace (June 18-21), features a slew of races, including the Ascent, a grueling three-mile sprint that covers 3,000 vertical feet. If you're into serious endurance punishment, there's the Triple Crown, a collection of races that includes the Ascent, a 46k, and a 23k.
"All Triple Crown finishers receive special prizes and are pretty much the raddest people ever," notes the event's description.
Alongside the races, Broken Arrow also sees daily yoga, films, and panels.
Up next is TrailCon, a three-day (June 22-24) trail running festival with panels, activations, a 100+ brand vendor village, and demo events. Attendees include the SkiMo Olympian Cam Smith and Raziq Rauf, the author of the newsletter Running Sucks.
Sending off the trail running schedule is the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run (June 25-27). The world's oldest 100-miler, the race begins at Palisades Tahoe and finishes in Auburn, California, covering Emigrant Pass and the Granite Chief Wilderness along the way.
"This is the kind of energy we live for," said Patrick Lacey, PR manager at Palisades Tahoe, in a news release. "To see runners from all over the world come together right here at Palisades Tahoe-on our trails, in our village, with our community is something truly special. We're proud to be part of it."
Beyond the trail running, Palisades Tahoe has the usual slate of summer ski resort activities, like scenic tram rides and a via ferrata.
