New York Attorney General Issues Spurs Demand Before Game 5

The San Antonio Spurs can't lose another game this season, as they're down 3-1 to the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. That's why they want to make sure that the crowd is on their side during Game 5 on Saturday night, which will be at their home arena.

The Spurs are not allowing fans more than 150 miles away from San Antonio's Frost Bank Center to buy tickets, per The New York Post. This is to try to prevent Knicks fans from taking over in the close-out game, which happened to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, the Philadelphia 76ers in the second and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the third.

New York attorney general Letitia James released a statement about the situation on social media.

"My office is demanding the Spurs remove this policy and allow Knicks fans and anyone who can buy tickets for tonight's game to be able to attend," she said. "Let's go Knicks."

New York has been clinical in close-out games this postseason, as it defeated the Hawks 140-89 on April 30 to win the first round in six games, beat the 76ers 144-114 on May 10 to complete a second-round sweep and beat the Cavaliers 130-93 on May 25 to complete a third-round sweep. All of those games were on the road, but the crowds favored the Knicks.

Those contests were part of a 13-game playoff winning streak, which trails only the 2017 Golden State Warriors (15) for the most all-time. That streak ended on Monday, when San Antonio beat New York 115-111 in Game 3 of the Finals at Madison Square Garden.

However, the Knicks bounced back with a 107-106 victory in Wednesday's Game 4, erasing a 29-point deficit to complete the biggest Finals comeback ever. The Spurs scored 76 points in the first half before tallying just 30 in the second.

New York also won Game 2 by one point, as that contest finished 105-104 in San Antonio. The only matchup of the series decided by more than two possessions so far was Game 1, when the Knicks won 105-95 on the road.

Saturday's game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC. If New York wins, it will secure its first championship since 1973. If San Antonio wins, the two squads will play Game 6 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
