Yankees' Trent Grisham Leaves Game vs Blue Jays with Injury
The New York Yankees have been hampered by injuries lately, and they may be dealing with another.
In the middle of their game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, center fielder Trent Grisham left the contest in the top of the sixth inning. Grisham came through with a big two-run single and looked to advance to second on the play; however, he showed noticeable discomfort when rounding first base and gingerly slid into second safely. After trainers came out, the 29-year-old went straight to the dugout and was replaced by Max Schuemann.

One inning later, the Yankees announced that Grisham left the game due to right hamstring tightness. Before this confirmation, Yankees beat reporter Bryan Hoch noted that Grisham had been dealing with left knee discomfort for a few weeks.

It would be a significant blow to the Yankees if Grisham ends up on the injured list, as he began turning his season around lately. Entering Friday's game, the Yankees' leadoff hitter was slashing .318/.406/.500 with nine extra-base hits and 16 runs scored over his last 24 contests. On the season, Grisham is hitting .232/.341/.406 with eight home runs, 35 RBI, 40 runs scored, a 112 wRC+ and 0.9 fWAR.
As mentioned earlier, the Yankees have been bitten by the injury bug lately. In addition to losing Aaron Judge indefinitely to a fractured rib, they've lost Austin Wells to cervical headaches that could be a long-term absence. The team is also missing Giancarlo Stanton and Jasson Dominguez, although both can return in the near future. Stanton can potentially return during the Yankees' homestand next week, while Dominguez is currently playing in rehab games with the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
