Victor Wembanyama Sends Bold Warning to Knicks: 'Everybody Knows We're Gonna Do It'

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are coming off a historic meltdown in Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, an all-time stinging loss that saw the New York Knicks come back to win after being down 29 points in the third quarter.

But if you take one listen to Wemby's bold words and the stern tone in which they were delivered, it would be difficult to believe his team is actually staring at a daunting 3-1 series hole that only one team in NBA Finals history has come back from.

After the 7-foot-4 star center was asked on Friday afternoon if he had a better sense about the Spurs' chances to come back two days removed from the shocking defeat, Wemby had precisely zero hesitation in responding.

"Everybody Knows We're Gonna Do It": The Full Quote From Wemby's Loaded Pre-Game 5 Statement

"Yeah, absolutely," Wembanyama quickly said. "Yeah, everybody thinks, everybody knows we're gonna do it [win the NBA Finals]. But I don't know if I agree with you, I feel like we need to isolate that one game [Game 5] and take it one game at a time."

The confidence alone and, again, the way Wembanyama held zero hesitation in so quickly expressing that "everybody knows" the Spurs are ready and able to launch a historic NBA Finals comeback that would only match what LeBron James and the Cavaliers pulled off against the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals was, in a word, impressive.

While it's probably more than fair to ask, "Well, what else is he supposed to say?" the 22-year-old "alien" absolutely went above and beyond with his response, rather than simply going with something a little safer.

For example, a succinct quote like, "We are solely focused on winning Game 5 and we will move from there," would have certainly sufficed.

But this is the unicorn that is Wemby we're talking about here - a generational player who has already displayed an overwhelmingly strong confidence and belief in himself on the court, and off the court too, so no one should really be surprised at this point.

However, there is a whole lot of time for Knicks' players to learn from NBA reporters that, apparently, "everybody knows" the Spurs are on the cusp of repeating some truly legendary NBA Finals history that was made just a decade ago.
