Knicks Fans Ready To Take Over San Antonio For Game 5 Of NBA Finals
New York Knicks fans did a pretty good job of filling up the San Antonio Spurs' Frost Bank Center in Games 1-2 of the NBA Finals. Judging by the latest data, they might outdo themselves in Game 5 tomorrow.
Some users on social media did some digging and found that there are no remaining seats on any direct flights from the New York metro area to San Antonio on Friday or Saturday ahead of Game 5. This comes on the heels of news that more than half of tickets sold to the game have come from New York and New Jersey.
Simply put, the numbers suggest pretty strongly that there's going to be a strong Knicks presence in San Antonio tomorrow.
Knicks Fans on the Road
The irony is that it's actually demonstrably cheaper for Knicks fans to see the team at Frost Bank Center than at Madison Square Garden. Cheap seats to Games 3-4 at the Garden ranged from $8,000-10,000.
For only half that price, Knicks fans could buy tickets to the game (under $2,000), a flight to San Antonio and lodgings for a night or two.
Simply put, the road game has been more cost-effective for Knicks fans, and it could be one of many X-factors in the success they had in Games 1-2.
But they may be left disappointed on Saturday. Down 3-1, the Spurs will be going at the Knicks with everything they've got and have led the Knicks by double digits at one point in all four of the games. Were it not for a few lucky bounces and boneheaded mistakes, the Spurs might be the ones in position to close the series out.
The Spurs will be playing the best basketball of their lives on Saturday. Their title dream depends on it.
Will Knicks fans turn Frost Bank Center into a mini-MSG, or will Spurs fans defend their home turf?
