Kevin Garnett Has Strong Reaction to Timberwolves' Newly Unveiled Uniforms

The Minnesota Timberwolves have never reached the NBA Finals, but as fans await the franchise’s first championship, they can rest assured knowing that they have the best new court, logo, and uniform combination in the league.

The Timberwolves held an official unveiling at Target Center on Sunday afternoon. It wouldn’t have been complete without Kevin Garnett, the most distinguished player in Timberwolves’ history, weighing in on the new look.

In a video played on the Jumbotron, Garnett said, “If you follow the T’Wolves, you can see how they’ve kind of taken a time capsule and tried to instill it.” Elsewhere, he called the uniforms “hard” and “fly” - the highest possible compliments.

The Timberwolves’ presentation included an explanation of the new “Gen 5” uniform design. The goal was to “evolve our current identity and grow with the team.” The white away uniform is a “nod to our roots: Old Shep and classic athleticism,” while the black home uniform is meant to “bring the attitude and celebrate our signature trees.” For the uninitiated, the team’s first-ever logo was nicknamed “Old Shep,” and they initially revived it two years ago.

The Timberwolves also unveiled two new court designs - “Core Court” and “Statement Court” - and a new logo that is an amalgamation of the Wolves’ 1990 color way and current logo design, as seen here.

The direction grew out of years of fan feedback and the franchise history that still resonates most with Timberwolves fans today,” the team’s official press release reads, in part. “The trees are now woven into the all-new identity, alongside evolved versions of the franchise's original blue, green and white color palette. This is not a look back. It reflects where Timberwolves basketball stands today: bold, expressive and deeply connected to the fans and state that have shaped the franchise from the very beginning.”
