USMNT vs Germany Player Ratings: Man of the Match, Winners and Disappointments

The USMNT lost 1-2 to Germany at Soldier Field for their final friendly match before the 2026 World Cup kicks off this Thursday.

The USMNT started poorly after a free kick from Germany led to Kai Havertz being unmarked in the box. The Arsenal striker headed the ball past Matt Freese to give Germany the lead in the 2nd minute of the match.

Germany was in search of the second goal early on in the match, but after a few mistakes from the German backline, the USMNT started to add pressure and believed in competing with Germany for chances.

The USMNT ended the first half strong and had serious chances involving Sergino Dest and Christian Pulisic.

It was Antonee Robinson who scored the equalizer for the USMNT, who scored a screamer in the 37th minute after a poor defensive clearance by Germany from a USMNT corner.

The USMNT looked more threatening in the late stages of the first half and in the early parts of the second half. The second goal for Germany arrived in the 57th minute with a low shot from Leroy Sane from the right side.

The biggest winner of the USMNT continues to be Antonee Robinson. His overall performance stood out, creating the most chances in the match and scoring an incredible volley.

Christian Pulisic also looked impressive, with three completed dribbles and getting close to getting a shot on target three times, but all were blocked.

The disappointment has to be the USMNT backline, with Tim Ream and Miles Robinson struggling to avoid mistakes that led to goals.
