Venus Williams' Comment About Serena's Return Should Have WTA Tour On Notice

Venus Williams made a guest appearance on TNT this Tuesday to discuss the all the main storylines involving the 2026 French Open. Of course, she was also asked about her sister Serena's future in tennis.

Serena Williams hasn't competed in a professional tennis match since her loss to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the 2022 US Open. However, it was confirmed this week that she's coming back to the WTA Tour.

Fans of Serena weren't exactly surprised by her comeback. The Athletic reported in December that she reentered the registered testing pool for the International Tennis Integrity Agency. That was a clear sign that she was considering a return to the spotlight.

When asked about Serena's comeback, Venus admit that she hasn't seen her sister on the court that much.

"I never see her on the court that often so I don't know when she's been practicing honestly," Venus replied. "I'm honest, I don't know how her form is."

Before fans panic about Serena's return to the WTA Tour, Venus said her sister is capable of picking up where she left off as soon as she steps back on the court.

"What I will tell you is she can not hit for four months and she'll come out and grab a racket and running shoes and just hit the ton out of the ball without ever hitting. It's incredible. The quality of her stroke is obviously there," Venus said. "She's, I think, a little bit of a natural. She has a pretty good record. She knows what she's doing. She's pretty tenacious. So I'm not worried about how she's going to play even though I haven't really seen her play."

When will we see Serena on the court again?

Serena Williams has accepted a wild-card invitation to compete in doubles at the Queen's Club Championships later this month.

According to TNT Sports, the current plan is for Williams to team up with Canada's Victoria Mboko. There'll be plenty of eyes on the 23-time Grand Slam champion, that's for sure.

As for when we'll see Williams in a singles match, that's up in the air right now. Maybe she'll use Queen's as a warm-up for Wimbledon.
