Myles Garrett vs Jared Verse Stats: Analyzing the Blockbuster Browns-Rams Trade

The NFL offseason doesn't get much bigger than this. The Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns agreed upon a blockbuster post-June 1 trade that sends one of the most dominant defenders in the game to the West Coast.

Myles Garrett will head to Los Angeles, and in return, Cleveland could get Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick. Reporters Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Adam Schefter all reported the negotiation.

The groundwork for this move was laid back in March when the Browns restructured Garrett's contract, pushing his option bonuses back from the standard league year deadline to seven days before the regular season. That adjustment made trading him significantly more manageable and opened the door for Los Angeles to come calling.

Breaking Down Myles Garrett vs Jared Verse Numbers

The Rams are getting a generational pass rusher at the peak of his powers. Garrett just wrapped up a historic 2025 season, winning his second Defensive Player of the Year award while setting the NFL single-season sack record with 23.0. He also added 60 total tackles and 43 solo stops.

In nine seasons with Cleveland, Garrett has 293 solo tackles, 119 assists, 125.5 sacks and six fumble recoveries to his name. He's a seven-time Pro Bowler who became the only player in league history to record at least 12 sacks in six straight seasons. Double teams follow him on nearly every snap and it hasn't slowed him down.

Cleveland, though, is betting on what comes next rather than what's already been proven. Jared Verse is 25 years old and heading into his third NFL season. His 2025 campaign earned him a Pro Bowl selection after he posted 7.5 sacks, 58 total tackles, including 35 solo stops and three forced fumbles as a primary piece of the Rams' defensive front.

In two seasons with Los Angeles, Verse has 71 solo tackles, 53 assists, 12.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He also took home Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2024. The raw sack numbers don't match Garrett's but his pressure rate and ability to disrupt the pocket have been trending sharply upward.

The Rams are clearly pushing their chips to the middle for another Super Bowl run, taking on the financial commitment that comes with a player of Garrett's caliber. Cleveland is moving in the opposite direction, landing a young, proven defender on a rookie deal while adding a 2027 first-round pick to a rebuild that now has real assets behind it.

Two teams, two very different timelines and one trade that reshapes both rosters heading into the season.
