Magic Johnson Raises Concern for Knicks Ahead of NBA Finals
The NBA Finals matchup is officially set, and with Game 1 scheduled for Wednesday night, anticipation is building as the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs prepare to battle for a championship.
Both teams played exceptional basketball over the past month, and the series will also serve as a rematch of the in-season NBA Cup Championship, which was won by New York.
One concern for the Knicks, according to NBA legend Magic Johnson, is figuring out how to contain Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama over a potential seven-game series.
"And for the Knicks, I'm wondering who's going to guard Victor Wembanyama," Johnson posted on X. "They won't have as easy of a time on offense due to the much better defensive ability of the Spurs compared to their previous matchups against the Hawks, 76ers, and Cavaliers."

For New York, Towns will likely draw the primary assignment on Victor Wembanyama, with help from OG Anunoby and Josh Hart in certain matchups.
However, Towns’ tendency to get into foul trouble could become a major storyline in the series. That possibility may elevate the importance of Mitchell Robinson, who recently underwent surgery on a pinky injury but remains one of the Knicks’ most impactful defensive players.
Robinson’s size, length, and rim-protecting ability could prove crucial if Towns struggles to stay on the floor against Wembanyama.
