Chet Holmgren Trending for the Wrong Reason After Thunder Lose Game 7 to Spurs
Chet Holmgren had a chance to play a key role in helping the Oklahoma City Thunder return to the NBA Finals. However, in Game 7 on Saturday night, he delivered one of his worst playoff performances.
Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs' defense limited Holmgren to four points, four rebounds and two turnovers. Holmgren also lacked aggressiveness, attempting only two shots. The defending champions felt the effects of his lack of production, as they suffered a season-ending 111-103 loss.
Holmgren immediately grabbed the attention of fans after his lackluster outing. The 7-foot-1 big man trended on social media for all the wrong reasons.

"And as l have said since their rookie seasons, please don't compare chet to Wemby....... It's not even close Wemby generational ," a fan said.
"Becomes of the worse contracts in NBA and pretty much makes him untradeable," one reaction read.
"Chet's overrated and definitely getting overpaid," a user wrote.
"His noodle arms can't compete when he plays men," posted another.
"He will have to address Wemby as 'daddy' in the foreseeable future," a viewer commented.
"TRASH. Kid gets bullied when the lights shine bright," one comment read.
All five San Antonio starters scored in double digits, along with Dylan Harper and Keldon Johnson off the bench. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, on the other hand, led Oklahoma City with 35 points, four rebounds and nine assists.
The Thunder front office will have to make big decisions in the offseason. It needs to figure out the salary cap and decide whether to pick up the team options of Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort and Kenrich Williams.
Free agency will also be crucial as Oklahoma City likely needs to add pieces to compete more effectively against the Spurs and other Western Conference powerhouses next season.
Holmgren's poor Game 7 production makes it hard to justify his $41.25 million salary in 2026-27. However, he has shown what he can do and will likely use this season's disappointment as fuel to perform better.
