Fever's Aliyah Boston Addresses Injury Scare in Blowout Loss To Fire

Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever were on the road Saturday against the Portland Fire and suffered a 100-84 blowout loss, dropping to 4-4 on the season and into fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Boston led the way for Indiana with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while shooting 7-of-13 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in 26 minutes. However, late in the fourth quarter, she briefly appeared to suffer an injury scare.

Boston was seen limping after converting a layup with 5:39 remaining and headed straight to the bench during a timeout. Fever medical staff then spent several minutes working on her left leg, including using a massage gun.

The three-time All-Star eventually stood up and walked around normally, though she did not return to the game as Indiana fell 100-84. Fortunately for the Fever, there appears to be no serious concern.

"I'm good," Boston said after the game, via Chloe Peterson of IndyStar Sports. "It was just a cramp."

Boston has been on a minutes restriction throughout the season after suffering a lower right leg injury during Unrivaled in February. Even so, she has continued to impress, averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 51.6% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range in 2026.

Boston and Caitlin Clark helped Indiana get off to a strong start Saturday. Clark recorded three assists in the opening three minutes, including two that led directly to Boston baskets. The Fever jumped out to an 8-4 lead before head coach Stephanie White substituted both players out.

The Fire immediately took advantage, going on a 13-2 run over the next three minutes. When Boston and Clark returned, they were unable to slow Portland's momentum as the Fire extended the surge to 27-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Indiana never seriously threatened to erase the deficit. With Boston unavailable for the final five minutes and Clark's workload also being managed, the Fever were unable to mount a comeback.

Clark finished with six points and six assists on 1-of-7 shooting in 21 minutes, while Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, and Makayla Thompson added 17, 15, and 11 points, respectively.

The Fire were led by Megan Gustafson, who scored 22 points, while five other Portland players also reached double figures. The victory improved Portland to 6-4 on the season and moved the team into fourth place in the Western Conference.
