Fans Demanding Change After Coco Gauff Suffers Upset Loss At French Open

There'll be a new women's champion at Roland Garros. Last year's winner, Coco Gauff, suffered an upset loss this Saturday against Anastasia Potapova.

Despite dropping the opening set, Potapova showed a ton of grit to secure a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win at Chatrier. It's undoubtedly the biggest victory of her career as far as Grand Slam tournaments are concerned.

"I don't have any words now," Potapova said. "Coco is such a champion… And I respect her so much. I'm unbelievably proud of myself as well that I fought til the last point. Yeah, here I am."

As soon as this match went final, Gauff's fans expressed their disappointment online. They believe it's time for the American to make serious changes to her game.

"Her serve is still atrociously awful and she needs big help," one fan wrote. "She needs to make adjustments.

"If this not a wake up call to change something about her defensive game style, I do not know what is," a second fan commented. "You cannot return an extra ball and hope your opponent would miss. Very disappointing match from Coco Gauff."

"This is wake up call for Coco," another fan declared. "This is disappointing."

"Coco can never close out a set or point, faltered, and Potapova pounced and hit her shots," another tennis fan said.

Is Coco Gauff in need of a huge change?

Owning two Grand Slam titles at the age of 22 is impressive, but Gauff could be even better if she actually improves her serve. There are just too many times where her game is dictated by her incredible court coverage and skills as a returner.

Several players in the top-10, such as Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, earn so many "free points" off their serve. Gauff would benefit greatly from her serve becoming a bigger weapon.

Does Gauff have enough time to improve her game before Wimbledon though? Only time will tell.
