Alex Caruso Sends Clear Message Ahead of Game 7 vs Spurs

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one win away from returning to the NBA Finals for the second consecutive season, but their backs are firmly against the wall as they prepare to face the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday night.

Oklahoma City is expected to be without both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell due to lower-body injuries, meaning an even larger role could fall on veteran two-way guard Alex Caruso, who has been a key contributor throughout the series.

Ahead of tipoff, Caruso made it clear that he believes the Thunder are ready for the challenge.

"It puts you at ease knowing you're going to get the best from each guy," Caruso said. "They're going to go out there and put their best foot forward and do what they need to do to sacrifice for the team and try to win the game, which is all you can do. All you can ask for is to go out there and play your best and let the results fall where they may. Looking around the locker room, there's no doubt in my mind that the guys are ready to go to war for each other."

Caruso has scored 15 or more points in four of the six games in this series, including a 31-point performance in Game 1, which the Oklahoma City Thunder ultimately lost in double overtime.

He also poured in 22 points during Oklahoma City's Game 5 victory and has continued to provide a major offensive spark throughout the series.

Caruso, who has plenty of Game 7 experience, emphasized that being too comfortable is the last thing a team should want entering a winner-take-all matchup.

"You don't want to be comfortable in a Game 7," Caruso said. "If you’re comfortable, you’re probably not edgy enough. You probably don’t have a high enough sense of urgency."
