Caitlin Clark Injury Update: Indiana Fever Announce Official Status of All-Star Guard

Caitlin Clark has been off to a good start with the Indiana Fever this 2026 season. She currently leads the WNBA in assists with 9.0 per game, while also ranking third in average points with 23.8.

The two-time All-Star has only missed one game for the Fever so far this campaign. She was a late scratch for their showdown with the Portland Fire last week, with the team citing a back injury as the reason for her absence.

Clark has since returned, suiting up during Friday's clash against the Golden State Valkyries. She recorded 22 points and nine assists in the contest, helping Indiana secure a 90-82 victory.

The Fever play the Valkyries once again on Thursday. However, by the looks of it, Clark is still not fully healthy.

Is Caitlin Clark Playing Today in Fever vs. Valkyries?

Clark is one of two players the Fever listed on their injury report prior to the team's showdown with the Valkyries. The 24-year-old guard is still dealing with a lingering back injury.

There remains concern about Clark's back issue, especially since it has been bothering her since the season opener. To recall, she had to briefly leave their game against the Dallas Wings to get her back adjusted.

The good news is that Clark is listed as "probable" for the contest, which means there's a high chance that she will suit up for the game.

Clark was also listed as "probable" prior to their recent meeting with the Valkyries. As stated, she was eventually upgraded to available, making a quick return from her injury.

Caitlin Clark's Injury Struggles

Clark recently talked about her absence from the Portland game and revealed that the decision to rule her out was rooted in her confidence in her body.

The star playmaker shared that she's still trying to overcome the mental hurdles of coming back from an injury. While her back issue is not serious, it should be noted that she's coming off a groin injury that ended her season in 2025.

"Coming back from injury and having three soft tissues, or however many soft tissue injuries, is a real mental challenge," Clark shared.

"These are the best players in the world, and if I don't feel 100% confident in my body, like on game five of the year, I do'tt know if that's really worth it in that scenario. … I'm doing everything I can to do that. I'm putting my body in my best position I can, and I feel really good and really confident in my body, but there's moments where I still struggle a little bit, and I get in my head and things like that. Like that's just the reality of it."
