NBA Issues Warning to Victor Wembanyama After Game 5 Loss

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are now on the brink of elimination after losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 by a score of 127-114 on the road.

Wembanyama scored 20 points, but on just 4-of-15 from the field, as Stephon Castle led San Antonio with 24 points.

The Spurs lost Games 2 and 3 before responding with a 21-point victory in Game 4, but Game 5 was a much different story.

Wembanyama looked frustrated all night, and he declined to speak to the media after the game on Tuesday.

As a result, the NBA issued a warning to Wembanyama, although there was no fine given to the Spurs star, according to Jeff McDonald of The San Antonio Express-News.

"The NBA has officially warned Victor Wembanyama about violating media access rules, per a league source. Wembanyama declined to address the media after the Spurs' Game 5 loss last night in OKC," McDonald wrote.

Wembanyama did not fulfill his media obligations, and the decision not to speak to the media was a bit of a surprise for somebody who is on his way to becoming the face of the NBA.

Wembanyama led the Spurs to a thrilling 122-115 win in double overtime in Game 1 as the San Antonio sensation had 41 points and 24 rebounds.

The Thunder then took the next two games before the Spurs tied things up in Game 4. Wembanyama and many others have expressed frustrations regarding the Thunder's flopping and fouls during the entire playoff run, and that figures to be the case this time as well.

Now, the series shifts back to San Antonio for Game 6, and the Spurs face a must-win scenario with the New York Knicks patiently waiting to see who their opponent will be.

Game 6 is on Thursday, and if there is a Game 7, it will be on Sunday in Oklahoma City. The NBA Finals are set to begin on Wednesday.
