Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Caught Committing Worst Flop Of NBA Season

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having an increasingly hard time justifying some of the favorable calls he's been getting on the court in this Western Conference Finals series.

During last night's Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs, there was an instance where SGA was protecting the rim. Spurs forward Julian Champagnie came up behind him and nudged him to try and get the offensive rebound, only to basically tap him on the back and deflect it backwards.

SGA fell forward and the referees immediately called a foul on Champagnie.

NBA fans that saw the move were outraged that he managed to get away with such a blatant flop:

"Shai Gilgeous Alexander is disgusting!! He's the biggest joke in basketball. This is literally what he's known for," one user wrote on X, adding a clown emoji.

"Clown Show"

Fans dissected the sequence leading up to the foul and found reasons to deem it even more egregious.

"lol he pump faked a flop before anyone even came close to him," one user joked.

"The spurs have to be one of the most emotionally disciplined teams of all time. Any other team would've lost it on someone by now for this," another mused.

"How long do we have to live with this? Are the refs blind? Do video-playback mean anything anymore to the league? If they banned Iverson's cross-over by calling it carry in the late 90's, why are they awarding floppers like SGA free throws now?" a third lamented.

"His team helping him get up even though he always intentionally falls down. Masterful Choreography."

It has basically been the entire story of the Western Conference Finals and the Oklahoma City Thunder's postseason that SGA is flopping and trying to get favorable calls at an excessive rate.

If it continues into the NBA Finals, the league might have a serious problem.
