Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes Receive Major News Away From NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs spent much of the 2025 NFL season dealing with frustration both on and off the field. Injuries piled up, losses followed and the team never truly resembled the dominant contender fans had grown accustomed to watching during the Patrick Mahomes era.

But beyond football, two of the franchise's biggest stars also became part of a much larger national story involving high-profile athlete burglaries that impacted several major sports figures. Travis Kelce and Mahomes both had their homes targeted during a string of alleged break-ins that reportedly affected athletes across the NFL and NBA.

Now, months later, the Chiefs stars finally received a major update in the case after authorities announced arrests connected to the investigation.

Alleged Burglars Connected To Chiefs Stars Arrested

TMZ reported Tuesday that three people accused of being connected to the athlete burglary ring were arrested following an investigation involving authorities in South America.

According to the report, two suspects were initially arrested in Argentina after allegedly breaking into the home of former tennis star Juan Martín del Potro. That reportedly helped investigators identify and capture a third suspect connected to the operation.

TMZ shared the update on social media with the post:

" Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes alleged burglars have been arrested."

Authorities reportedly said the suspects are currently in Chile while officials determine whether they will face legal proceedings in Argentina or the United States.

Kelce, Mahomes Were Among Several Athletes Targeted

Kelce and Mahomes were among several high-profile athletes connected to the investigation.

Reports stated that homes belonging to Joe Burrow, Luka Dončić and other professional athletes were also allegedly targeted between 2024 and 2025. Investigators previously said organized groups were believed to be tracking athletes based on public schedules and social media activity before carrying out the burglaries.

The FBI had reportedly warned professional sports leagues about the pattern at the time, with authorities alleging the groups used advanced tactics including bypassing security systems and Wi-Fi jammers.

According to reports, more than $2 million in valuables were allegedly stolen during the series of break-ins.

Mahomes' Missouri home was reportedly burglarized in October 2024, while Kelce's residence was also targeted around the same timeframe.

Chiefs Enter 2026 Season Looking For Fresh Start

While the legal process surrounding the case still appears ongoing, the arrests represent a significant development for Mahomes and Kelce after months of uncertainty surrounding the investigation.

The timing also comes as Kansas City prepares for the 2026 NFL season with hopes of bouncing back from a disappointing 2025 campaign. The Chiefs spent the offseason adding talent through the draft and free agency while looking to reestablish themselves as AFC contenders.

For Kelce and Mahomes, though, Tuesday's update provided at least some progress in a situation that extended far beyond football.
