Cavaliers Star Donovan Mitchell Makes Promise After Knicks Sweep
The New York Knicks capped off a historic 10-game run in which they’ve outscored opponents 246 points by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 130-93 romp that sent the team to the NBA Finals for the first time this century.
Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, who was in the losing end of the four-game sweep, made a promise to fans of the team that they’ll be back and said “unfinished business” trying to deliver the city a ring.
“I’m sorry for the city of Cleveland,” Mitchell said. “For it to be like this and the sweep. That’s [expletive]. But I told y’all last year, and I’ll say again, we’ll be back. We’ll be ready. We’ll be hungry. And we’ll be locked in.”

Mitchell made it clear he believes the Cavaliers will use this as a learning lesson and be back better than ever for the 2026-27 season.
“I have no doubt that this group can get there,” he said. “I’ve said that all year. The biggest thing is you just use it as a learning lesson. It’s a tough learning lesson, but now we know.”
“This team that we just faced had to go through this. Maybe not this way, but they’ve been together, they’ve been a core group and had to go through this tough experience. So, this is our turn.”
New York awaits the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder which is tied at two games apiece.
