Thunder Hit With Jalen Williams Injury News Ahead of Game 5 vs. Spurs

Game 4 was supposed to be a chance for the Oklahoma City Thunder to grab control of the Western Conference Finals.

Instead, they got steamrolled.

The Spurs dominated 103-82 behind a monster performance from Victor Wembanyama, who poured in 33 points as San Antonio's defense squeezed the life out of OKC’s offense.

The Thunder shot just 33% from the field, committed 20 turnovers, and posted its lowest-scoring playoff outing in years as the series goes back to 2-2.

Now, with just 24 hours before a pivotal Game 5 in Oklahoma City, another layer of uncertainty has landed on the defending champs.

According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, both star forward Jalen Williams and rising reserve Ajay Mitchell remain day-to-day, with their statuses for Tuesday "very much up in the air."

"We know the Oklahoma City Thunder as an organization always looks at the long-term approach, and when you think about these soft tissue injuries, a hamstring as well as a calf, these typically are not just day by day injuries," Charania added.

Oklahoma City's biggest injury concern remains Jalen Williams, who is dealing with a left hamstring issue that he re-aggravated in Game 2 against San Antonio after previously missing playoff time with the same injury.

The Thunder have treated him as day-to-day, but recurring hamstring injuries can be notoriously tricky in a deep postseason run.

Mitchell, meanwhile, is battling a right calf strain, an injury he suffered in Game 2 and aggravated in Game 3.

While not the headline name Williams is, Mitchell's absence matters because his scoring punch, ball handling, and versatility have helped preserve OKC's depth, which has been their biggest advantage throughout the postseason.

Historically, NBA playoff matchups tied 2-2 often swing dramatically in Game 5, with the winner usually grabbing control of the series.

Oklahoma City returns home, but home court doesn’t mean much when you’ve got an alien on the other sideline.

Getting both Williams and Mitchell back would be massive for OKC, to say the least.
