Oregon Football Receives Message From Nation's No. 4 QB Ahead of Visit

The Oregon Ducks have narrowed down quarterback Josiah Boyd as a top target in the 2028 recruiting class. At 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 43 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.

It's a battle they recently entered, with Boyd announcing his scholarship offer from Oregon on May 1. Dan Lanning and his staff are rapidly becoming one of the quarterback's top choices.

The Moreno Valley, California, native is set to be in Eugene on June 4 for an unofficial visit. Before that, he spoke to Rivals' Adam Gorney and addressed his early connections with the program.

"It's Oregon," he said. "It's a place you can develop and learn. Coach Koa [Ka'ai] is a great quarterbacks coach so I feel like I'm fired up to go there and see what I can learn, get on the board a little and get as much information as I possibly can… The relationship is good. We just started but we've been building that relationship."

Boyd caught the attention of several prominent schools after an impressive sophomore season at Vista del Lago High School. He threw for 2,620 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also showed off the ability to be a dual-threat quarterback with 462 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Despite offering him less than a month ago, the Ducks are among the favorites to land Boyd. Oregon has the third-best chance (13.8%) to receive his commitment, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine.

However, they're up against several other intriguing teams. That includes the UCLA Bruins (18.4%), Arizona State Sun Devils (16.1%), Kentucky Wildcats (11.5%), Kansas Jayhawks (11.5%) and Washington Huskies (11.5%).

It puts added pressure on Oregon's recruiting staff to continue impressing Boyd when he makes his way to campus on June 4.
