Katherine Legge Admits She Needs 'Attitude' Adjustment
NASCAR driver Katherine Legge's Indy 500, Coca-Cola 600 double attempt did not get off to a very good start.
Legge, who is attempting the historic Indy 500, Coca-Cola 600 double, crashed out in the first part of her double attempt. Legge, who was attempting to become the first woman and just the sixth driver overall to complete the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600, crashed out on Lap 18 on Sunday.
Ryan Hunter-Reay spun and Legge attempted to avoid contact, but she had pretty much nowhere to go.
Legge's day came to an unfortunate end.
However, she still has a chance to finish the Coca-Cola 600. She's set to begin the Coca-Cola 600 in the No. 37 starting spot.
Legge, 45, admitted that she needs an 'attitude' adjustment before the race begins
Legge admitted that she was very disappointed by the Indy 500 result. She added that she needs an "attitude" adjustment.
"Desperately frustrating," she said.
"I need to have an attitude adjustment. Because right now, I'm (expletive). I'm disappointed. I need to get on that plane and try to get into the right mindset."
Legge still joined an exclusive club on Sunday.
Only five other drivers - John Andretti (1994), Robby Gordon (1997, 2000, 2002-2004), Tony Stewart (1999, 2001), Kurt Busch (2014) and Kyle Larson (2024, 2025) - have attempted the challenging Memorial Day Weekend double.
NASCAR fans are wishing her the best.
"I feel bad for Miss Katreine and hope she finds better luck in Charlotte. But if she hadn't made that move, it could have led to a really bad crash. Good on her for avoiding that in a total smoke screen," one wrote.
"Good luck Katherine! Racing in both races on the same day is still a rare accomplishment!" one added.
"I'm not a follower but I was looking forward to seeing her perform well today," one shared.
The Coca-Cola 600 is set to begin at 6 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
