Jerry World Commits To Sun Blocking For 2026 World Cup
Jerry World is doing for the 2026 World Cup what it will not do for Dallas Cowboys football games.
AT&T Stadium, which will be known as Dallas Stadium during the 2026 World Cup due to FIFA's marketing rules, is committing to blocking out the sun for the world competition soccer matches.
That is not something that Jerry Jones is willing to do to his $1 billion football stadium during Dallas Cowboys games.
"The Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington-briefly rebranded as Dallas Stadium by FIFA this summer-will host the most World Cup games with nine, including a semifinal. At least one of them will cover up Jerry Jones's beloved window to avoid any issues with glare from the sun," Front Office Sports reported.
"A FIFA spokesperson tells Front Office Sports that it plans to use the curtains during only one match, which kicks off in the early evening. The other eight matches in Arlington will start in the early afternoon or after sunset."
The stadium, which opened in 2009, is known for having quite the sun glare during late afternoon games in the fall.
Cowboys players, including star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, have voiced their complaints.
"Yes," Lamb said when asked if he would be in favor of using curtains during sunny games. "1,000 percent."
Jones, however, did not like that.
"Well, let's just tear the (expletive) stadium down and build another one? You kidding me?" Jones said.
"Everybody's got the same thing," Jones added. "Every team that comes in here has the same issues. They know where the sun's going to be. Every team has the same thing."
Jones has made it clear he's not changing anything.
"I'm not saying. I'm saying the world knows where the sun is," Jones said. "We get to know that almost a year in advance. So someone asked me about the sun and what about the sun? Where's the moon?"
Of course, the FIFA World Cup doesn't count, apparently. Games will begin in early June.
