Travis Kelce Looks Bad As Rashee Rice Heads To Jail Tuesday

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is rightfully facing a lot of backlash on social media on Tuesday, following his teammate's legal issues.

Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has reportedly violated his probation. As a result, he has reportedly been ordered to serve 30 days in jail. Rice, 26, has been with the Chiefs since 2023, serving as a top pass catcher for Patrick Mahomes.

NBC 5 in Dallas broke the news on Tuesday.

"Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice tested positive for THC, according to Dallas County court documents, a violation of his probation for charges related to a multi-car crash in Dallas more than two years ago. The documents say he will be ordered to serve 30 days in jail and be released on June 16," the outlet reported.

Reece was booked into jail around noon. He was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 NFL season, after the NFL found that he violated the league's conduct policy, causing a major car accident in Texas in 2024. Rice pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges last July and was sentenced to five years of probation.

Why is Kelce involved in this?

Well, last season, amid Rice's suspension, Kelce decided to wear a "Free Rice" T-shirt prior to a September 2025 game.

"Rice should consider himself immensely fortunate that no one died as a result of his reckless street racing," cllct's Matt Liberman wrote.

"But then, for Chiefs players to wear shirts calling on the NFL to lift Rice's suspension … that's classless on so many levels. Especially for Kelce, who might be the most recognizable NFL player in the world, especially to non-football fans. Giving his platform to Rice is frankly irresponsible."

Other NFL fans weighed in.

"Travis Kelce wears shirt to support a man who nearly killed innocent people while driving recklessly. If this is the man Taylor Swift wants to marry, she is just as bad as them," one fan wrote.

Kelce's T-shirt decision continues to look bad

"Ann Michael Maye's husband would never wear a shirt like that," one fan joked.

"Bad look for Kelce continues," one fan added.

"Classless then, even more classless now," another NFL fan added.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, have yet to comment on the latest developments involving their star wide receiver.
