Indiana Fever Star Caitlin Clark Career News Announced on Tuesday

Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever has been back to her old self to start the 2026 WNBA season. Clark is coming off an 89-78 win against the Seattle Storm in which she had a team-high 21 points and 10 assists. Clark has been a consistent scorer in her four games played, scoring at least 20 points in every game.

The 6-foot guard currently leads the WNBA in assists per game (9.0) and is tied for fourth in points per game (24.3). Clark is reinforcing through her play why she is arguably the highest-profile woman in professional sports across the globe.

One example of Clark's significance is her $28 million Nike deal, which she signed in 2024, the largest sponsorship contract in women's basketball history. Another way Clark is expanding her public profile is through the Indianapolis 500. On Tuesday, Fever beat reporter Scott Agness reported that the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year will participate in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing."

Clark will participate in the Indy 500 as the grand marshal. The grand marshal typically commands drivers to report to their cars during the buildup to the race and is considered one of the most prestigious ceremonial roles in racing. The Indianapolis 500 will take place on Sunday, May 24, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway.

"News: Caitlin Clark has been named grand marshal of the 110th Indianapolis 500," Agness wrote on X. "To be held on Sunday. ‘I'm looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing."'"

Gates open at 6 a.m. EDT for the Indianapolis 500, with the race scheduled to start at approximately 12:45 p.m. ET.
