Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Victor Wembanyama's Historic Performance
The San Antonio Spurs won a double-overtime thriller Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-115.
Leading the charge for San Antonio was 22-year-old Victor Wembanyama, who dominated from start to finish with a historic performance, finishing with 41 points, 24 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.
Wembanyama became the youngest player ever to post at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a playoff game, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - then known as Lew Alcindor - in the record books. He also joined Charles Barkley and Moses Malone as the only players to accomplish the feat in a conference finals game.

Many people reacted to Victor Wembanyama's unreal performance, but one of the most notable came from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and avid NBA fan Patrick Mahomes, who is also a well-known Dallas Mavericks supporter being a Texas native.
"Wemby Man…. Unbelievable!" Mahomes posted on X.
After the game, Wembanyama was asked whether he felt like the best player in the world, especially after seeing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander receive the MVP trophy prior to tipoff. His response stood out for its composed, PR-savvy tone, something he can certainly relate to with Mahomes in that regard.
"Do I feel like it right now? I feel tired," Wembanyama said. "But it's not a question I'm wondering right now. We'll see. The world is 8 billion people, so it's 8 billion opinions."
