Dallas Wings Congratulate Azzi Fudd For Receiving Master's From UConn
The Dallas Wings have gotten off to a 1-1 start to the 2026 WNBA season, but are already without their top pick in this year's draft.
Selected with the No. 1 overall pick, the Wings drafted former UConn Huskies star Azzi Fudd. The sharp-shooting guard who made 42.2% of her threes at the college level is expected to provide another flamethrower to a Wings lineup that features last year's No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers and four-time All-Star Arike Ogunbowale.
Unfortunately for Fudd, she missed the team's second game of the year on Tuesday due to a knee issue. The bright side of the injury situation is that she is listed as day-to-day, which means she could return any day now.
As the team prepares to take on the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday, they took to X to share an accomplishment by Fudd outside of basketball. As shared on social media, the Wings held an impromptu graduation ceremony for Fudd, who received her master's from UConn earlier in the week.
While Fudd received a business administration degree from UConn, forward Alysha Clark provided her with a different kind of degree on Wednesday.
"Congratulations on (completing) your degree, a master princess," Thomas said.
The veteran forward then gifted Fudd with a diploma and a pink bottle of what appears to be tequila.

While it's unclear when she will return, those around Dallas are likely hoping Fudd can find her shooting stroke and killer instinct. Her debut saw her score just three points in 18 minutes, giving her the fewest points in a WNBA debut in the past 20 years.
Fudd only took two shots, as her demanding the ball will be something she learns to do, but once she figures things out, could be special.
