A Young Child Ruthlessly Sweeps 76ers Jersey After Knicks' Win
The New York Knicks humiliated the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Knicks defended their turf by winning Games 1 and 2 at Madison Square Garden - 137-98 and 108-102, respectively - and somehow played even better on the road. It may be because the Knicks still thought they were playing at Madison Square Garden.
Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena looked and sounded like MSG throughout Game 3 on Friday and Game 4 on Sunday. New York won Game 3, 108-94, and put an exclamation point on it by completing the sweep with a 144-114 win in Game 4. The Knicks tied an NBA playoff record by sinking 25 three-pointers en route to 144 points.
The Knicks have won seven straight games, dating back to winning the last three games of their first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks.
After sweeping Philadelphia on Sunday, Knicks fans lingered at Xfinity Mobile Arena and celebrated the 76ers’ elimination. Jake Brown shared a video on X showing a very young boy wearing a Brunson jersey taking his mini broom to a 76ers shirt:
It’s easy to blame the 76ers’ woes on All-Star center Joel Embiid’s ankle sprain and hip injury, and Embiid was visibly hampered in Games 3 and 4. It could have been a different series if he was able to play as he did when leading Philly back from a 3-1 series deficit to eliminate of the Boston Celtics last weekend.
The Knicks were also without OG Anunoby (hamstring strain) for the past two games, but they were clearly the better, deeper team.
Now, the Knicks are in the Eastern Conference Finals for a second straight year and await either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Detroit Pistons. The Pistons lead that series 2-1.
