Lake Highland Prep wins dramatic girls lacrosse final; FHSAA spring sports news | Varsity Report

In Chris Robinson’s eight years as Lake Highland Prep's girls lacrosse head coach, the Highlanders have faced American Heritage of Delray Beach every year in the final four, with most of those games coming down to the last minute. That doesn't count the 2020 season, which was cut short by the Covid pandemic.

Saturday’s Class 1A state final was no exception, Superb sophomore Giselle Jaskiewicz scored with 18.9 seconds left to give the Highlanders (21-2) a thrilling 6-5 win at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples.

The goal staved off the momentum from American Heritage (20-2), which scored three consecutive goals in the fourth period to tie the game.

“We had no fear (when the lead disappeared); we played fearless the whole game,” Robinson said. “We were going to take the last shot or go to overtime, and we got it to our best player and Giselle was in a great position to score.”

Jaskiewicz had three goals and an assist while Katherine Davanzo, Lily Ventura and Sophie Van Marcke De Lumen had the other goals for LHP.

The state title was the fourth for the Highlanders (2019, 2022, 2025, 2026) - matching the number American Heritage has won since 2018.

Molly Connolly had two goals and an assist for LHP in its 14-8 semifinal vs. Episcopal of Jacksonville.

Madison Park added a goal and three assists in that game.
