Stephanie White's Caitlin Clark Injury Update After Indiana Fever's Loss to Wings

Caitlin Clark's third WNBA season got underway on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and it was everything the occasion promised. The Indiana Fever fell 107-104 in a back-and-forth opener against the Dallas Wings, with the game going down to the wire.

Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 30 points, Aliyah Boston added 23, and Clark contributed 20, including the basket that gave her 1,000 career points in the WNBA. Arike Ogunbowale paced Dallas with 22 points while Paige Bueckers added 20 as the new-look Wings held on despite several late Indiana chances to tie or take the lead.

The concern of the afternoon, however, came midway through the game. Clark was seen heading to the locker room between quarters and was in the team's training room just off the tunnel getting checked out.

She returned with roughly a minute elapsed in the fourth quarter, spinning and scoring almost immediately after checking back in.

Postgame, Clark put the concern to rest herself. She said she felt good and explained the reason for her exit plainly. Clark confirmed that the trips were just about getting her back adjusted but emphasized that she feels great (h/t Chloe Peterson of IndyStar)

Head coach Stephanie White also addressed Clark's exit to the locker room after the game: "It's just part of maintaining the body. This is going to be an ongoing thing, and not just her."

The update is a sigh of relief for Fever fans who watched their franchise player sit out the majority of last season. Clark is one of the reasons why Indiana is among the favorites to win the 2026 WNBA championship, and the Fever cannot afford another long stint without their All-Star guard.

Following Saturday's disappointing loss, the Fever will hit the road for the first time this season to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday. Clark and the Fever will be eager to get back on the right side of the result.
