Atlanta Falcons Star AJ Terrell Loses Aunt In Parking Lot Accident
It was sadly confirmed this week that Atlanta Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell lost his aunt in a terrifying accident.
WBS-TV reported on Thursday that a woman died after a driver plowed into her car in the parking lot of a Georgia supermarket. This fatal accident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Giselle Perry.
"Perry's husband said she had dropped her mother off at the Kroger earlier and was waiting for her outside the store when the crash happened," WSB-TV reported. "Police said another driver hit Perry's car. The crash impact sent the cars onto the sidewalk. Someone walking outside the store was also hit."
It didn't take long for fans to connect the dots and realize Perry was Terrell's aunt.
Terrell posted this message for his aunt on his Instagram Story: "I'm torn, Aunty. Heart is heavy, I love you."
Perry's husband, meanwhile, described her as "loving" and "caring." He said they were getting ready to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary this June.
NFL community rallying around the Terrell family.
Terrell, 27, has been with the Falcons since the 2020 season. The Clemson product has racked up 381 tackles, 61 pass breakups and six interceptions.
As you'd imagine, NFL fans are sending Terrell and his family a ton of support online this week.
"Condolences to AJ, Avieon, and the whole Terrell family. Losing someone like that, in such a sudden and senseless way, hits hard," one fan wrote. "I hope they're getting space and support from the Falcons community right now."
"Life is so unfair sometimes," a second fan commented. "Praying for the Terrell family through this."
"Prayers up for AJ and Avieon Terrell's family because losing a loved one in such a tragic way is heartbreaking," another fan said.
