Timothée Chalamet Skips Met Gala to Attend Knicks' Game 1 vs. 76ers
Timothée Chalamet has officially supplanted Ben Stiller as the world’s biggest New York Knicks fan.
Stiller wore an orange tie to the 2026 Met Gala on Monday night, while his wife, Christine Taylor, wore a blue gown, so together, they honored the Knicks on the carpet. Stiller even held up six fingers and mouthed, “Knicks in six.”
Chalamet would never.
Last year, Chalamet skipped out on the Met Gala to watch the Knicks play the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Kylie Jenner, his girlfriend, walked the carpet alone.
It’s déjà vu on this first Monday of May this year, as Jenner went solo at the Met Gala once again.
Chalamet went to Madison Square Garden to take in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between his Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Chalamet and Jenner enjoyed a date night at Madison Square Garden last Tuesday. The Knicks hosted the Atlanta Hawks for Game 5 of their first-round NBA playoffs series. Aside from the Knicks winning 126-97, the talk of the night was Chalamet and Jenner sitting next to Tina Fey on “Celebrity Row,” which quickly became a viral meme.
The Knicks closed out the Hawks in Game 6 last Thursday night, 140-89, likely sending the entire Hawks franchise into an existential crisis.
The suddenly hot 76ers won’t go down as easily. Philadelphia overcame a 3-1 series deficit to upset and eliminate the Celtics in Game 7 on Saturday. 76ers All-Star center Joel Embiid has a years-long, heated rivalry with Knicks All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, but Embiid will also have to deal with chirping from Timmy.
