Criticism Mounts For Angel Reese After Two Disappointing Preseason Games
Criticism is mounting online for Angel Reese following two disappointing WNBA preseason game showings.
The third-year WNBA forward, who was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream last month, has looked rusty in her two preseason games so far. Reese, a two-time WNBA All-Star, is shooting a bad percentage from the field while turning the ball over and committing too many fouls.
Through two preseason games, she's:
- Shooting 35.7 percent from the field
- Four personal fouls in 24 minutes of game action
- Shooting 57 percent from the free throw line
It's been ugly at times.
WNBA fans know that Reese is a good player, though she can be frustrating to watch at times, too.
Criticism for Reese's game is mounting online amid the preseason struggles
It's just the preseason, but fans are taking to social media, to criticize Reese for her preseason showing. Some are arguing that her game is too predictable right now.
"She doesn't jump or release high. It'll stay this way until that changes," one fan said of her shots getting blocked.
"She needs to pass as soon as the d comes. She does not have secondary moves," one fan added.
"She needs to start hitting middys her game is too predictable and when she goes to the paint she shows the defendant the ball enough for them to reject it," one fan added.
"What I don't understand is why she thinks she should be putting the ball on the floor and taking it to the rim like she's the #1 option," one fan added.
ESPN, meanwhile, remains high on Reese for 2026, ranking her among the top 25 players in the league.
She came in at No. 22 in ESPN's player rankings.
"Reese will be wearing a new uniform after being traded to the Dream in the splashiest move of the offseason, but her new team is looking for her to keep doing what she is known for: dominate the glass. One of the best rebounders in the sport, Reese has led the league in rebounds in each of the last two years, becoming the only player in WNBA history to average at least 12.0 rebounds in a season (in 2024 and 2025). Now she joins an Atlanta team that was already one of the league's best rebounding teams," ESPN wrote.
Reese will have to play better when the regular season begins.
