Shilo Sanders Not Apologizing For Criticism Of NFL Reporter Mary Kay Cabot
Former Colorado safety Shilo Sanders isn't interested in settling his differences with Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
Earlier this week, Cabot reported that Deshaun Watson has the inside track to becoming the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. He's expected to have a position battle with Shedeur Sanders this summer, but Cabot believes Cleveland's coaching staff should just commit to Watson from now.
"With my breaking news here that Deshaun Watson has taken the lead over Shedeur Sanders in the Browns QB competition and has the inside track to win it, I think they should declare him QB1 asap and let the 1st team offense start to cook," Cabot wrote. "There's no time to waste."
Cabot's comments about Cleveland's quarterback situation didn't sit well with Shedeur's brother, that's for sure. Shilo posted this message on social media: "Go make a sandwich Mary."
Cabot had the chance to fire back at Shilo while on 92.3 The Fan, but she took the high road instead.
"I know there are so many women who have joined the football world especially because of some of the things I've been able to do over the years, and I'm happy about that," Cabot said. "I'm just happy that I've been able to help set the tone and open some doors in that way."
Clearly, Shilo isn't a fan of taking the high road. On Thursday, he took yet another shot at Cabot's reporting.
"If you're going to be a reporter, be a reporter and report facts," Shilo said. "Whenever you have your opinion, and your opinion is always something hateful to Shedeur, it makes it seem like it's something weird, like it's an agenda that you have going on."
The son of Deion Sanders continued, "There's plenty of women in this field that take this serious and take reporting football serious and actually do homework and study the game and get the statistics right and get the news right. But with you, it's so much emotion that I don't want you to make women look bad when it comes to reporting because you don't have the will to actually went to report real things that are going on."
Tough situation for Shedeur.
Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland made the argument this Thursday that Sanders hasn't been given a fair chance to win the starting job.
"If you're a Shedeur fan though, he had no chance last year, and this year, the owner of the Browns came in studio with us and said 'Deshaun Watson looks great.' If you're a Shedeur fan... you've got to still feel like nobody is still giving this kid a real chance," Goldhammer said.
For what it's worth, Browns coach Todd Monken hasn't eliminate any quarterbacks from the competition just yet.
"The number of reps a player gets doesn't eliminate competition. It's just in a given day, let's say for instance, you want to see a quarterback with the first group, the second group, the third group. Well, are you going to divide those reps up evenly? Are you going to divide up the reps everywhere evenly? I don't see it that way," Monken told reporters. "That doesn't mean there's not competition. I just see it as in a given day, and it'll be daily in terms of who gets what reps and when, because we certainly want to allocate our reps to the players we feel like are going to give us the best chance to win."
Sanders started seven games for the Browns in 2025, completing 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. We'll see if he gets another crack at the job this fall.
