2 Potential Landing Spots Emerge for Former 1st-Round QB Anthony Richardson

The 2026 NFL draft came and went, and Anthony Richardson is still a member of the Indianapolis Colts.

Given all the pre-draft hype about a potential Richardson trade during the draft, there didn't seem to be many takers for the former No. 4 overall pick.

However, Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports thinks now that the draft has come and gone, a Richardson deal could materialize sometime between now and training camp, and he named two teams that could be potential landing spots for the Florida Gators alum.

"The writing is on the wall regarding Richardson’s eventual departure from Indianapolis," DeArdo wrote. "The Colts would obviously prefer to trade Richardson, but that may not happen until a team suffers an injury at quarterback during either minicamp or training camp.

"As far as potential landing spots, Richardson would be a good fit on a team that either has a young starting quarterback or one that has a similar skillset. Two teams that come to mind are the Dolphins (who have Malik Willis at QB1) and Ravens."

With the Dolphins signing Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million this offseason, they could use some sort of safety net if Willis ends up being a bust.

Sure, some would say Richardson has also been a bust up through this point in his NFL career, but he's still only 23 and could flourish in the right system.

But Baltimore could be the better spot for him to end up. With Lamar Jackson entrenched as the starter, there's no pressure on Richardson to come in and win the job. He and Jackson also play have a similar style of play, and sitting and learning behind Jackson for a year or two could be just what he needs to resurrect his career elsewhere.
